PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy)

PEG is an endoscopic procedure that creates a hole through the skin directly into the stomach in order to allow the placement of a stomach feeding tube. This artificial opening is introduced to help clients who require enteral nutrition due to the inability to maintain adequate nutrition via oral intake. This can be for several medical reasons hence allowing you to meet your dietary requirements as well as take your medication safely.  PEG tube can have a risk of infection when not used safely while ensuring good infection control measures in place.
